Baby Got Bad Back

Ug.  My stupid back is still bugging me, although it hurts a little less than yesterday.  I was very aware of it hurting all last night when I would change sleeping positions, which kind of sucked.  I took a 2 mile walk today and it didn't feel great.  Technically it was supposed to be a three mile run, but I tested out doing a shuffle and it was immediately like "This is not a good idea in the least."  So I just walked.  I wish I could say I enjoyed my walk today, but I really didn't.  Besides the pain, I under dressed for the weather and was miserably cold the entire time.  I didn't put a sweater on poor Molly, and after the first mile when we passed by the car, she dragged me over to the car and stood at the hatch.  The expression on her face was pretty priceless, like "you can walk in this cold crap if you want, but get me in this damn car first".  I did put her in the car and did my second mile without her, and it was better because I didn't have her yanking at my arm and continually tweaking my back.  She is really just awful about that.

I ended up not doing my weights/squats on the schedule yesterday, and intended to do them today, but it's clearly still not a good idea so I'm taking another rest day.  I will have to shift around some days and make up those workouts on rest days, but I'll fit them in.  Hopefully this doesn't happen again, I was actually enjoying the weights and squat stuff, and I'm not even saying that sarcastically!  I flexed my leg in a random way last night and a huge muscle popped up in my upper thigh.  It was pretty cool actually.  I'm also seeing my biceps get a little more defined, so I don't want to lose any of that!

I'm already thinking I bit off more than I can chew with this step goal for January.  To hit it I'm going to have to do a little over 12k steps a day, and the last 2 days I've definitely not done that.  I may hit 12k or over today since we will have a hike walking to the Rose Garden (still refuse to call it Moda Center!)

Tonight we're going to a Blazer's game and are going to eat at Red Robin, which for the record, their online nutritional information is terrible.  I am a "less is more" type person when it comes to websites, and I like when restaurants just provide a simple PDF download of the nutritional stats on their food.  However Red Robin makes it super complicated, you have to click each individual menu item, do this customization crap...etc.  I had sticker shock looking at the calorie counts on their food, especially the salads.  Some of their salads are 800 calories!!  That is just ridiculous.  I found a chicken salad that I can customize and make about 490 calories, which is still ridiculous for a salad but at least I have an option.

I feel insanely anxious because I started looking at job boards again today.  I still don't know what I want to be when I grow up, I just know what I don't want.  Hopefully the right opportunity comes to me soon.

  1. So sorry your back is still acting up on you. that just sucks.

    I laughed just thinking of your poor dog. I can picture that look perfectly.

    And ugh, I hate restaurant salads. The problem is they add a ton of cheese and dressing and fried toppings to salads and take away all the healthy.
