A Mouse in My Back

Not a ton to write about today so I'll just keep it short so I can tell you guys about my workouts just to keep accountable.  I can't believe how much better I slept last night after no alcohol, getting 8 glasses of water and some workouts in.  I got almost 9 hours of sleep!  I've been averaging about 6.5 to 7 hours over the last couple of weeks, which has left me feeling pretty haggard.

Today was pretty good and I got my workouts done early again.  I am rethinking buying 5 pound dumbbells since I was able to power through the dumbbell routine today using the 10 pounders I already own.  I just feel like if I can do the workout with the 10 pounders, then I might as well challenge myself and also not have to spend extra money.  I am surprised how much I like doing the weights, it's never really something I cared for before, but maybe it's just because I didn't know what to do so I kind of blew it off.  Having a specific workout really helps keep me focused.  The squats were actually not as bad as I thought they'd be, the thing that hurt like hell were the plank leg lifts!  I actually had to take a break after 5 in order to rest in child's pose before I did the next 5.  The donkey kicks aren't really challenging yet, but I'm sure they will be.

After that we took a break for lunch, then I took Molly for a walk.  I was technically supposed to run, but I've had this nagging hip/lower back situation for about a month.  Long story short, I have this sharp, pinching pain right above my hip in my lower back that makes it incredibly painful to sit.  I thought that maybe it was just a situation where using my stick roller would help, but that only gives a very temporary relief.  The other night I was feeling around and trying to massage the area that hurts, and there is a weird lump back there.  Of course I'm immediately like "oh wonderful, cancer".  I did some Googling and it sounds like it could be this thing called a "back mouse".  Cutesy name, but the symptoms are definitely in line with what I'm feeling.  I am going to get to a doctor to get it checked out, because the pain is definitely beginning to get worse.  Anyway, that was a long explanation to tell you that I did a 3 mile walk today instead of a 2 mile run today.

Tonight we're going to see Wild and are going to eat at our usual little pasta place.  I'm getting a different salad on the menu than my tuna/white bean salad.  I'll still have some calories to burn, so maybe I'll add a cup of soup, or get a treat at the theater!

  • 10 Donkey kicks
  • 10 Plank Leg Lifts
  • 50 squats
  • 3 mile walk

Today's Meals

  • Breakfast:  Burrito (eggs, chicken sausage, potato)
  • Lunch:  Hoppin' John and rice
  • Dinner:  Chicken and Artichoke salad from Pastini
